The film starred by the youngest Olsen sister Elizabeth tells the story of Martha, a woman who has run away from an abusive hippie cult where she was living as Marcy May for two years. After fleeing the cult she struggles to re-assimilate with her stranged sister Lucy, played by Sarah Paulson. As she attempts to settle in this new life, Martha’s sense of identity is often questioned and added to her increasing paranoia of being chased by Patrick, the charismatic cult leader, played by John Hawkes.

50/50 is a movie starred by Joseph Gordon-Lewitt, he plays Adam, a 27 year old writer of radio programs who is diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer. With the help of his best friend, his mother, and a young therapist at the cancer center, Adam learns what and who the most important things in his life are. The movie is based on a true story, and you can see how the movie focuses more on the character’s perspective, rather than the usual drama and relationships most movies center around. I do recommend it.

I procrastinated a lot watching this movie, even though I do like Iñárritu’s movies (and apparently for this one Cuarón and Del Toro were also asociate producers). So some big names for the movie, including Javier Bardem, who played Uxbal, a medium, sensitive to spirits, living in the margins of society right in the heart of Barcelona. Feeling how death surrounds him as he tries to find peace and protect his two children, he is forced to deal with his life as he is diagnosed with terminal cancer and has to escape the heat of several crimes. The story is simple and complex at the same time, but what stands out is Bardem’s performance, who reflects the strife and struggle of reality, and shows the importance of having hope.

I saw the David Fincher movie last month and I really liked it, but it’s not on his top best movies. The film, starring Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, tells a tale of murder, corruption, mystery and abuse. Unfortunately I have only seen the hollywood version, so I can’t compare it to the original swedish film or the books. But I did found the movie truly captivating, not often do I have the feeling of wanting more while watching a movie, or not wanting it to end, I’m looking forward to see the second part of this trilogy.

In time is a movie starred by Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cyllian Murphy. I wanted to see this movie since I read what it was about and I finally got the time to watch it. It’s set in the future, humanity have found a way to become inmortal, when you get to be 25 years old you stop aging, but the new currency is not money but time. It’s simple: you have to work hard to earn time, if not you die.
Society is divided by social class living in specialized towns called ‘Time Zones’, where the poor (who lived day by day or even hour by hour) lived separated to the rich (who had decades or even centuries to live). The analogy of time-money is interesting, and how you choose to “spend it”.

I like to watch the girls is a french movie, which was also part of My French Film Festival. It’s a shame I didn’t got the opportunity to see more of these french films, I’ve been very busy. This movie was ok, very french, sort of interesting story but very slow. The movie is about a guy called Primo, he is 18 and lives alone in Paris. One day while crashing a party he meets Gabrielle, a beautiful girl who is the opposite of Primo, she is rich, while he is poor and the black sheep of the family who lives in the countryside. Fascinated by Gabrielle’s charm and her friends, Primo starts lying about himself and pretends to be cool and rich.

The ides of March is a movie produced, directed, and starred by George Clooney, and executive produced by DiCaprio. It is starred by Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, and Philip Seymour Hoffman… yeah I know, great cast! The thriller tells the story of a young man working for the presidential campaign who learns that having ideals is not enough in politics. It questions morality, and how far can your ideals carry you to reach your success.
From 1 to 10 I give it an 8.5
The Skin I Live In is an Almodóvar movie, and features brilliant actor Antonio Banderas and beautiful Elena Anaya. So as in most of his films, the plot is hard to explain in few sentences, this movie became more complex as it evolved, in his fashioned non-linear narrative.
The movie tells the story of Dr. Robert Ledgard, a brilliant surgeon whose wife pased away due a terrible car accident. Haunted by his past tragedies he creates a new perfect skin, strong enough to survive any kind of damage. In the middle of his obsession he kidnaps his experiment guinea pig, a beautiful woman called Vera, who has to learn to live on a “different skin.”
